In order to promote meaningful intervention and honest discussion on the environment, the University of Cyprus invites the public to participate in an environmental interdisciplinary meeting that will take place on June 4, 2024, at 9:00 to 15:30, in lecture hall B108, in the Council – Senate building “Anastasios G. Leventis” at the University Campus (1 Panepistimiou Avenue, 2109, Aglantzia).

The conference, with the general title “Discussing about the Environment“, aims to highlight and thoughtfully discuss environmental issues, thus honouring the Environment Day, which is celebrated internationally on 5 June 2024. Among the issues to be discussed are the path towards a climate neutral Cyprus and the challenge of governance with specific examples such as the cases of Idali, Akamas and Akrotiri. The issues of sustainable mobility and technology, environmental and sustainability education will also be highlighted, while the conference will conclude with a broader concluding discussion on the environment.

The conference “Discussing the Environment” is included in the first actions of the Interdisciplinary Committee on Environmental Issues of the University of Cyprus with the aim of open dialogue, reflection and impact on environmental policy planning and implementation.

The conference is open to the public. At the end of the presentations in each session there will be an open discussion with the participants.

The public interested in attending can register their participation via the link www.ucy.ac.cy/ucyevents through June the 3rd 2024.
