Dr. Ioannis Tzanavaros, Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, Adult Cardiac Surgeon, director of the Cardiac Innovation Center at Apollonion Hospital and clinical professor at the University of Nicosia, will present on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 6:00 m.m., at the cultural center of the municipality of Polis Chrysochous, a lecture entitled “Cardiac Surgery-past, present and future”.

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death, especially in the elderly, in Cyprus and worldwide. Cardiac surgery, which until the end of the 19th century was considered impossible, managed within a hundred years to be the hope of life for millions of patients. The lecture will present the course of Cardiac Surgery in the 20th century, the current possibilities of care, as well as a forecast for future developments in this field.
