The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is ranked 185th worldwide and 1st in Greece for Interdisciplinary Research, according to this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) global ranking in the field of Interdisciplinary Research (ISR).

AUTH is the only university in Greece that covers almost all scientific fields, and cultivates a dynamic culture of collaboration in research, encouraging the interconnection of its Departments and cooperation with more than 200 universities abroad. These collaborations lead to innovative and effective solutions to contemporary societal problems that require interdisciplinary approaches.

It is worth noting that the AUTH, since 2014, has established the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation (KEDEK), which is one of the main pillars for the development of interdisciplinary collaborations and the enhancement of the university’s research productivity. Enhancing funding for interdisciplinary collaborations and producing high quality publications remain priorities for the AUTH, while its performance in these categories demonstrates its strong position in the international academic arena.

On the occasion of the distinction, the Rector of AUTH, Professor Charalambos Fidas, said “The international distinction of AUTH reflects our continuous effort to strengthen cooperation and excellence in all scientific fields, creating a strong environment of interdisciplinary cooperation. AUTH is a multidisciplinary, extramural University with a global reach, which contributes decisively to solving current and important social problems that require interdisciplinary approaches and solutions.”
