The 2nd Panhellenic Conference on Geriatrics will be held in Thessaloniki on June 4–6, 2026, at the Center for the Dissemination of Research Results (KEDEA).
The conference, titled “Healthy Aging and Longevity: Fall Prevention & Ethical Dilemmas in Contemporary Geriatrics,” is organized by the Inter-institutional Master’s Program (Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Program) in Applied Gerontology and Geriatrics in collaboration with the Hellenic Society of Biomedical Technology (ELEVIT).
The increase in life expectancy is one of the most significant achievements of modern medicine and social progress. In light of this demographic reality, geriatric medicine is called upon to continually evolve through knowledge, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation, with the goal of a comprehensive approach to the care of the elderly.
This year’s conference focuses on two main themes:
A) Falls among the elderly.
This is one of the most common and serious health problems in geriatrics. It is a multifactorial phenomenon that requires a holistic geriatric assessment, prevention, and modern, innovative interventions to reduce its risk and consequences.
B) Ethical dilemmas in the management of geriatric cases.
In an era of increasing longevity, healthcare professionals are often called upon to address complex situations related to patient autonomy, quality of life, and clinical decision-making that respects human dignity. The aim of the conference is to serve as a forum for scientific dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of innovative practices that will contribute to improving care for the elderly.
This symposium stands out, as:
- It focuses on a multifactorial approach that combines scientific knowledge with practical applications.
- It highlights the crucial role of geriatric care.
- It presents contemporary practices and research findings that can be directly applied to the care of older adults.
The conference features a comprehensive scientific program and practical workshops, and offers 19.5 ECMECs from the Panhellenic Medical Association.
