The development of the western part of the ancient city of Delphi is included by the Ministry of Culture in the set of projects that it has launched and implements for the protection and promotion of the archaeological site of Delphi, through the Ephorate of Antiquities of Fokida. In the context of the maturity studies have already been prepared and received the positive opinion of the Central Archaeological Council the studies of restoration, fixing and enhancement of monuments of the western ancient city of Delphi – topographic, digital mapping and mapping – as well as the geotechnical study for measures for direct intervention on the cistern, the architectural study of the enhancement of the district of the Heron Blum, the study of the maintenance of the mosaic floors of the monuments and analysis of materials.

The works for the development of the western part of the ancient city of Delphi, which is delimited by the path under the Blum quarter to the entrance of the Western Lodge and from the enclosure of the sanctuary of Apollo to the entrance of the cemetery, provide for interventions concerning the management of the scattered architectural elements, the uncovering of the floors of the Late Roman houses, and the integration of the area into the archaeological site open to visitors using parts of the existing route.

From the Sanctuary of Apollo there are two branches of the route: One will pass in front of the Western Lodge and end at the exit to the modern cemetery, and the other will lead to the viewing stop above the Blum Memorial Quarter. Through these routes, the visitor will pass through the important monuments of the western city and will be able to perceive its extent and organization. When the work is completed in 2027, the accessible archaeological site will have been significantly enlarged and visitors will enjoy new experiences.
