The Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation supports the Public Libraries of Greece

with 2,300 art books

The Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation has donated 2,300 art books to public libraries throughout Greece, in order to support their mission. The action was implemented with the assistance of the courier company ACS, which undertook the shipment of the books.
During December, with the valuable help of ACS, the books travelled to a total of 45 public libraries throughout the country, from Crete to Northern Greece and from the Ionian Islands to the Dodecanese.
These are detailed publications dedicated to foreign artists who made their mark in the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Matisse, Kandinsky, Balthus, Giacometti, Klee, Chagall, de Chirico, Rodin, Picasso, Braque, Miró, Toulouse-Lautrec, Moore and Delvaux as well as distinguished Greek artists including Bouzianis, Parthenis, Hadjikyriakos-Gikas, Engonopoulos, Moralis and Tetsis. All publications come from exhibitions organized by the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation from 1990 to the present day.
For the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, which has been active in the field of art since 1979 and has a rich publishing activity, the enrichment of libraries and the familiarization of the public with great Greek and foreign artists is a priority.

The donation is part of the Foundation’s programme of public benefit activities and was made under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. Parallel to this, the Foundation also plans to support libraries located in Attica.
