Every year on June 21—the longest day of the year, which also marks the summer solstice—World Music Day is celebrated.

On that note, in the new episode of the “Modern World” series, the program featured Giorgos Kontrafouris, a world-renowned pianist and professor in the Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University.

The discussion analyzed the importance of music schools and the contribution of university departments to shaping our country’s musical landscape, the way in which tradition “interacts” with contemporary musical genres, as well as the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our relationship with music.
