As part of the events marking the 10th anniversary of its founding, the Eleusis Photography Club invites photographer Ypatia Kornarou to present her photo books “MOOD” and “RARE,” on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Anapsyktirio—Art & Culture Lounge, Eleusis Beach.

Following their initial presentations in Athens, the two books open a new chapter of dialogue with the public, offering a deeply immersive and visual experience. Essentially, this is an open invitation to all who love the art of photography to engage with the stories that exist both before and after an image is captured on printed paper.

The photo book “Mood,” through a contemporary lens, delves into the depiction of emotional states. Meanwhile, the book “Rare” is a conceptual photographic documentary that emerged following an invitation from the “95” association, the Greek Alliance for Rare Disease Patients, and took approximately two years to complete. A representative from the “95” association will attend the presentation and deliver a brief welcome address.

The paths of a book are emotion, and they precede the “aperture capture” of a lens. And as you leaf through its pages, silently contemplating the images, you realize that they primarily convey the self-expression of a creator who seeks emotional reinterpretation through others while simultaneously immersing himself in the world of visual wanderings. A photography book is not a beautified collection of images; it does not sit on a bookshelf for you to admire. Like any work of art, it awaits to be explored with devotion, precisely because it contains the inner workings of a creator and their reflection in the infinity of gazes, in the endless longing for identification.

Excerpt from the introduction to the photography book “Mood”:

Photography is a human gaze that ceases to view the world stoically, while at the same time—rooted in the existence of oblivion—it statically captures a “reconstructed reality.”

Excerpt from the emotional narrative of the photo book “Rare”:

From the very beginning, the journey was intertwined with a universal narrative about the psychological portrait of diversity. However, when I began, I had no idea what it meant to be rare. I was simply there, facing an emotional storm, watching love transform into a gigantic deity, the mother of all. Another world, parallel to our own. An indelible embrace of warmth, filled with accumulated memories that can only be captured in silence. The realization that I was within that warmth was as if I were stepping into the secret gardens of my childhood dreams.

The “95” Association, the Greek Alliance for Patients with Rare Diseases, said the following about the book “Rare”:

The “95” Association, the Greek Alliance for Rare Disease Patients, exists to remind us that behind every diagnosis there is a person. A person with an identity, a voice, relationships, and a right to life. Rare diseases do not define human existence. They test it. They permeate it. And they often reveal resilience that is not immediately visible. In the pages of this album, you’ll meet people who live with a rare disease as part of their daily lives. People and families who navigate between uncertainty and care, between waiting and carrying on with life.
