The publication Creative archives as living memory landscapes in the digital age highlights questions and concerns about the role of contemporary archives. The publication of the volume was prompted by the implementation of the European Multi-Company Project CR.E.ARCH.

Archives are considered to be spaces open only to a few categories of scientists, historians, researchers, scholars, etc. However, the challenge is to redefine the role and mission of archives in order to make them more accessible to the largest possible number of stakeholders without sacrificing their scientific validity.

Historians, anthropologists, archivists, librarians, scientists, researchers, and artists who took part in the project have contributed articles to this volume, which both reflect the presence of the archives and provoke an interdisciplinary dialogue on their immediate future.
