In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Revolution of 1821, the Central Municipal Library of Thessaloniki has organized a book exhibition titled “The Revolution of 1821 in Macedonia and the local uprisings, through the pages of books from the Library’s old collection”

The exhibition is based on books by historians such as: Sp. Trikoupis, I. Kolokotronis, V. Kolokotronis, A. Spiliotopoulos, I. Petrov, M. Paparigopoulos, N. Kasomoulis, I. Vasdravellis, Ap. & K. Vakalopoulos, A. Metallinou – Tsiomou, Chr. Perraivos and G. Finley, Fr. Pouquevill, Prokesch Von Osten, Anton Graf.

The Central Library, in collaboration with the Museum of Photography “Christos Kalemkeris” of the Municipality of Kalamaria, the Thessaloniki History Center, as well as with private collectors, has included in its exhibition maps of the timeengravings, and photo collectables.

Lastly, historical videos are shown at the entrance of the library, concerning the topography of Thessaloniki, the history of Halkidiki, and the memoirs of I. Makrygiannis, narrated by Ilias Venezis and Manos Katrakis.

Opening Hours: Monday: 14.00 – 20.00, Tuesday – Friday: 9.00 – 14.00, on the 2nd floor of the Central Library (Ethn. Aminis 27).
