Yannis Marinos is known to everyone as a distinguished and prolific journalist. To the Friends of Music Association, however, he is something more: he is its longest-standing member, without whom nothing in the Association’s history would be the same. The Association has indeed expressed its special gratitude for all he has contributed to date by naming its largest hall at the Megaron Concert Hall after him—the very venue where the presentation of his latest book will take place on May 12, 2026.

Papadopoulos Publications and the Friends of Music Association invite the public to an evening where experience becomes narrative and memory becomes living speech. Through the speakers’ reflections, the book ”Adventure in the Pacific Ocean” will emerge as a personal diary that transcends the boundaries of mere documentation, serving simultaneously as a testimony to an era and as a reflection on humanity’s relationship with the sea.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the author’s unique experience in the North Pacific Ocean during the summer of 1981, an experience that was recorded with immediacy and passion and, decades later, transformed into a book with a strong experiential and literary character.

The book is a firsthand account of a journey, when the author, responding to an invitation from a shipowner friend, took part in a fishing expedition off the coast of Vancouver. His notes, written with immediacy and passion, were transformed years later into a deck log that serves as both a personal testimony and a tribute to the sea and the underwater world.

Keynote speakers:

Thanasis Papandropoulos, Journalist
Antonis Papagiannidis, Lawyer and Journalist
Theofanis Diamantis, Shipowner

The discussion will be moderated by Panos Dimaras, President of the Friends of Music Association.
