ENIA Gallery presents on Friday 11 October 2024 the solo exhibition of Bella Easton entitled “Everything Flows“.

Bella’s interior landscapes are created through a private, entirely personal journey in search of a safe place, which writes its own story at a time when our world is becoming increasingly volatile. Exploring ideas around the passage of time and memory, her introspective approach incorporates her interest in shapes, decoration, repetition, light and space. She confronts the chaos of images and signs by synthesizing small fragments into a harmonious unity. Forming mirrored pairs, she passes paint in thin layers to reveal the image through a long and complex process of pressure and contact. Each fragment is rendered slightly differently-fluffy/focused, bright/dark, inside/outside, straight/back, left/right, hard/soft, up/down, hot/cold-to trigger contrasting energies, in a game of contradictions that continues until the doubling of two halves results in a whole.

According to visual writer and curator Paul Carey-Kent, ”Bella has found ways of using the external elements of chance, place, time and material that introduce new forms into her personal vocabulary. The transition between time and space in her work can be interpreted as referring to landscape and mapping, to the barriers between the outside and the inside, and she is – almost paradoxically – very adept at discovering ‘accidental’ extensions. Also evident is the presence in the background of the modernist grid and the structuring it provides‘.
