The revival and/or the fulfillment of the vision of sculptor Alex Mylona (1920-2016) – in contemporary terms – is proposed by the open-air exhibition presented until 30 September, with free admission, at the Esplanade of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC), in the framework of the collaboration between the SNFCC and the National Gallery – Alexandros Soutsos Museum. The exhibition was curated by the art historian Syrago Tsiara.

The concept of the exhibition focuses on the relationship between women’s artistic creation and historical and institutional reality, restrictive conditions, the dream and practical transgression. Starting from the sculptural/architectural proposals conceived and realized by Alex Mylona in the 1970s, it develops as a modular project that converses with the SNFCC’s program and seeks to fulfill the original vision of the artist in contemporary terms of exhibition experience, visibility and participatory action in the public sphere.

The journey of this dynamic project, with the assistance of the artist Eleni Mylona, MOMusAlex Mylona Museum and the Alex Mylona Foundation, began in April in the framework of the WOW-Women of the World Athens 2024 festival.

The exhibition is made possible thanks to the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
