Two leading Greek soloists, soprano Alexia Voulgaridou and baritone Aris Argyris, meet at the Megaron for a unique Opera Gala in collaboration with the Athens State Orchestra under the baton of conductor Miltos Logiadis.
The fine artists will perform popular scenes and arias from operas by Verdi and Puccini, including the Tosca – Scarpia duet from the second act of Tosca.
The programme also includes orchestral works by the two great Italian composers, such as the Prelude from Aida, the Introduction from The Force of Destiny (Verdi), and the Intermezzo from Puccini’s Manon Lescaut.
The concert is offered free of charge by the artists and the Orchestra in support of the educational aims of the “Maria Callas Scholarships” Association, an organization housed at the Athens Concert Hall and founded by Maria Callas herself in order to award scholarships in her name to young talented lyrical artists.
