Zina Linardaki, an exceptional painter of the contemporary generation, presents her new work in the exhibition entitled “Ships and Ports”. The opening will take place on Wednesday 25 September 2024, at 19:30 at the Hellenic Maritime Museum.
The works in the exhibition are inspired by the industrial landscape of contemporary Greek ports, as it is shaped by the dynamic development of maritime activity.
The artist has developed a personal, dynamic writing that breaks away from the stereotypes of seascapes. Her harbours are not places of reverie, the ships do not promise escape, nor are they fields of human toil. The sea and the coastal landscape are not the focus of her subject matter. However, her paintings offer an authentic renewal of the genre of seascape.
The ships of Zina Linardaki exist and celebrate in the port. Whether they are freshly painted in the shipyards, or tied up at the pier waiting to be loaded or unloaded, whether they are tugs or small fishing boats filled with fishing gear, or even old and rusty, they are all depicted with vitality. She makes free and balanced use of her rich colour palette, creating vibrant compositions full of pulse and optimism that exude the aura of the harbour.
Part of the proceeds from the sales of the works will be donated to support the aims of the Maritime Museum of Greece.
