With his music, composer Dimitris Maramis has succeeded in bringing the Greek classical literary tradition into the present, with respect and a contemporary artistic lens: ErotokritosThe HauntedCaptain Michalis, and Eleftherios Venizelos.

The contemporary Greek musical Erotokritos (2017) inaugurated the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera and was later presented at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, and the Cultural Conference Centre of Heraklion. The music-theatre trilogy The Haunted (2019) premiered as a commission of the Athens Concert Hall. The folk opera Captain Michalis (2021) and the opera Eleftherios Venizelos (2023) were commissioned by the Region of Crete and the Cultural Conference Centre of Heraklion respectively.

A large-scale, eagerly awaited production featuring the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Nikos Maliaras, singers Stavros Siolas, Argyro Kaparou, Angeliki Toubanaki, Stavros Salampasopoulos, Dimitra Selemidou, Nikos Papoutsis, Eleni Dimopoulou, Nikos Kyrtsos, Mela Gerofoti, Violetta Galanou, and lyric soloists Haris Andrianos, Maria Kokka, Angelos Chondrogiannis, Nikos Ziatzaris, and Stamatis Pakakis.

Participating choirs include Musica Choir of Friends of Music, conducted by Dimitris Bouzanis, Youth Choir of Leonteios School of Nea Smyrni, conducted by Katerina Vasilikou, and choirs from Central Greece.

Over the course of his twenty-year, highly prolific career, Maramis has consistently succeeded in engaging both seasoned and new audiences of classical and art music.
