On March 5, 2026, CITRONNE Gallery is launching a new annual series of group exhibitions, INTERSECTIONS. The idea behind this series is to bring together, to “intersect” works and artists of different ages, who express themselves and work with different visual media—drawing, sculpture, ceramics, video, installation. The first exhibition is entitled Two-Way Memory, a theme that refers to the past, as it is revisited or even reworked by the present.

This theme inspired the seven participating artists—Kostis Velonis, Eugenia Vereli, Chrysoula Papadaki, Aliki Papadimitriou, Natalia Papadopoulou, Nana Sachini, and Eugenia Fragolia. Their narrative is unified by the use of memorabilia, as found in children’s games, fairy tales, the circus, and the Comedia de l’Arte. This creates affinities between the works. Such narratives bring with them magic, with its dual nature: attractive charm, but also primal fear. The combination of these two tendencies largely creates the subconscious, which will evolve and be integrated, transformed in one way or another, into the present.

Kostis Velonis is characterized by spontaneity and theatricality. He presents an empty stage, with an unexpected scale, which leads the viewer to the heroes and “effects” of Comedia de l’Arte – without, however, leading to a performance.

Eugenia Vereli focuses on memories from the circus or reconstructs children’s drawings in the sand, which she transforms into sculptures.

Aliki Papadimitriou’s wooden works come from the old world of handmade toys. However, their ends are zoomorphic heads reminiscent of dark Gothic monsters.

Natalia Papadopoulou introduces a video installation in a “room-environment,” where various images are projected onto a water tank; diving and emerging from embodied memory.

Chrysi Papadaki sets up a space for reflection and deep introspection, where memory plays a decisive role. It is a dreamlike work, where plant motifs and biomorphic elements meet and coexist.

The sculptural and pictorial forms of Nana Sachini and Eugenia Fragolia, as living bodies, evoke successive feelings of desire and fear.

These artists are seemingly very different from one another. However, they engage in a conversation with successive complementary voices and expressions that unfold in the gallery spaces. From the depths of each individual’s childhood memories, they embark on a common journey of regeneration of their personal references in a transcendent complementary symmetry of the present.
