The solo exhibition of Ilias Papailiakis, entitled “Theoretical objects. Workσ 2017-2020″, presented by the OPANDA at the Municipal Gallery of Athens, opens again from May 14 to May 23, 2021.

Ilias Papailiakis, one of the most active and renowned Greek artists, is constantly conversing with the history of Greek painting. His exhibition includes works created within the last three years: paintings, drawings and sculptures. A “theoretical object” in Papailiakis’s work is something to be studied and Investigated: it is the human body, violence and history, art and archaeology, landscapes and nature, the history of culture, antiquity and “the cultural traces of the past”·

Papailiakis’ exhibition at the Municipal Gallery consists of three main sections, mainly of oil paintings, which are accompanied by 250 ink or pencil drawings that do not belong to a particular series.
