A first step towards the return to normality…

The Art Athina Exhibition opened on November 1, 2021, with its new web platform Art Athina Virtual (www.aavirtual.gr), and visitors already have the opportunity to browse for free in 59 galleries and project spaces and meet the artists and their work with no time limits, as Art Athina Virtual 2021 is and will be accessible 24/7 until the end of November.

Despite the hardship, return to normality is upon us and the Art Athina Exhibition takes the first step for its full return in 2022. From Friday, November 12 to November 21, Art Athina Pop Up, a group exhibition curated by Stamatia Dimitrakopoulou, the art director of Art Athina, will be hosted on the ground floor of the King George Hotel, in Syntagma Square,

In this exhibition space, all art galleries and independent spaces participating in Art Athina Virtual will present a piece of art accompanied by a QR code. By scanning the codes, visitors can access the gallery’s ‘digital booth’ and get information about the artists and their work.

The Art Athina Pop Up exhibition is part of Art Athina Virtual, which has been placed under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic  Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

Art Athina Virtual 2021 will also include parallel actions, performances and talks that have always accompanied its artistic program.

Performance:

The Art Athina Virtual Performance program, curated by curator and art historian Kostas Stasinopoulos (Assistant Curator, Live Programs, Serpentine) entitled “Expectations and Awakenings”, embraces the extravagant, the anxiety and terror as strategic states that mark our otherwise unconnected present.

New Media Space:

In collaboration with the DESTE Foundation, Polyeco Contemporary Art Initiative and the British online platform Daata, the Art Athina Virtual New Media Space program presents video art, NFT and eight new assignments of AR (augmented reality) projects that users can experience using the application created by the Daata platform, scanning the QR codes in various places in the center of Athens.

Live Talks & Art Athina Podcast

The annual Art Athina series of talks returns to its physical space and will take place “live” in the foyer of the Pallas Theater from Saturday, November 13 to Sunday, November 21. The talks will be also posted on Art Athina Virtual in the form of podcasts and will be available on the Art Athina Virtual platform.

The Live Talks program, curated by Katerina Zacharopoulou, is entitled “Emotional Education” and presents five unexpected narratives with important curators, art historians, artists and writers.
