Ersi Gallery, 4 Kleomenous Str. Kolonaki, presents the painting-sculpture exhibition titled “A special aspect of abstraction, 1950s-1960s” from 16 December 2021 to 29 January 2022. Greek art during that period turned towards Western Europe, with artists leaving Greece on fellowships. Alekos Kontopoulos was one of the first and he founded the group the Extremes, together with Giannis Gaitis, Giannis Maltezos, Dimitric Hytiris and Lazaros Lameras. The exhibition presents the collective work of A. Kontopoulos, A. Apergis, G. Maltezos, G. Simosi, K. Antypas and G. Gaitis, as the core of the lyrical abstraction of the time.
