The Ministry of Culture and Sports, the National Opera and Eurolife FFH present the 1st Festival of Worship Music, a new large-scale event that will take place from Monday to Wednesday at 17 historical landmarks of Plaka and the centre of Athens. The Festival, under the artistic direction of Giorgos Koumentakis, will present a marathon of 62 concerts and artistic activities, approaching numerous and unexpected aspects of the relationship between religious worship and music, in museums, archaeological sites, churches, streets and squares.

More than 400 young and distinguished Greek artists, musicians, choirs, singers, chanters, cantors, composers, actors, musicians participate in an unprecedented experience of devotion in the streets of Plaka and the centre of Athens. For three consecutive days, from 18 to 20 April 2022, the musical relay of the 1st Festival of Worship Music will bring great works of world music, tradition and contemporary creation, with worship as the theme, to the Acropolis Museum, Areopagitou, the Museum of History of the University of Athens, the Parnassos Literary Society, the Museum of Modern Greek Culture, the chapel of Papadiamantis (Church of St. Elias), the Museum of Pavlos and Alexandra Kanellopoulou, the Catholic Cathedral of St. Dionysios Areopagitis, but also on three routes with the Bands of the Army, Air Force and Navy in Dionysios Areopagitou – Apostolos Pavlos – Kapnikareas Square, Acropolis Peripheral and Metropoleos – Monastiraki.
