Greek sailing managed in the race of Ière, which was the last qualification, to secure its representation in the 2024 Olympics.

Byron Kokkalanis in iQFOiL for men and Cameron Alexandros Maramenidis in Formula Kite for men, were the first to get the ticket for the top sporting event and will be present in Marseille, where the sailing events will be held.

Sailing has had a continuous presence in the Olympic Games for 30 years and often with Olympic medals and the anxiety for its representation in Paris was great.

The joy of the Patras Sailing Club is even greater because in both of these qualifications the important club put its “little stone”. Byron Kokkalanis and the Greek team participated in the Open European Championship “IQFOIL Sailing”, organized by the Club in Patras, a sporting event that attracted all the great athletes worldwide and gave the opportunity to train together for over a month in our country.

The expatriate from the USA, Cameron Alexandros Maramenidis in formula kite, came to Greece for the sole purpose of participating in the first Panhellenic kite championship organized by the Patras Sailing Club and the Cape Drepano Club in Drepano.

The management of the Patras Sailing Club expresses its joy and pride: “From these events everything started! The Greek Sailing Federation invested in these athletes with coaches, hard work and sending them to big races and won. Congratulations to our athletes and we hope more qualification will come! Congratulations also to the brothers Ariadne Paraskevi Spanakis and Odysseus Emmanuel Spanakis in the 470 mixed who also secured their qualification to the Olympics! The President and the members of the Patras Sailing Club Board of Directors are glad that we chose to bring to Patras categories that are the future of sailing and we will continue to “look ahead” and develop our sport!
