Psilalonia and Omonia Square will be the focus of the events organized by the Municipality of Patras for the “reception” of May Day. In two of the most emblematic squares of the capital of Achaia, dance, music and song will meet the colours and aromas of flowers and May Day wreaths.

PSILA ALONIA SQUARE – AT 7.30 p.m.

Thirty (30) dance groups from cultural clubs, associations and unions participate in this year’s “Celebration of Dance Groups”. The groups (starting from the Three Admirals Square) will end at the Ipsila Alonia Square. On the two platforms that will be set up there, the dance groups will present a 10-minute dance program of their choice from various regions of Greece.

OMONOIA SQUARE – AT 9.30 p.m.

In Omonia Square, at 9.30 in the evening, there will be a concert with the Artemis Bekropoulos Orchestra. The repertoire will include art songs, rebetika and old folk songs. The orchestra consists of Gabriel Birlis (bouzouki), Simos Nikolopoulos (guitar), Artemis Bekropoulos (bass), Nikos Plegas (piano), Thimios Papadoulas (drums), Dimitris Dimopoulos (singing) and Korina Vrakatseli (singing).

This year, dance groups will present their work in Omonia Square. The last four bands from the last four bands from the Ipsila Alonia lofts and any other bands will perform there. The experimental beginning was made last year with great success and the response of the crowd was special.
