Concerts, choirs, music, film screenings, artistic creations, bicycle rides, concerts and street performances are just a part of the Christmas and New Year’s Eve events planned for this year by the Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Patras.

The official opening of the events will be marked by the lighting of the lights that will take place on Tuesday 12 December in George Square, the appearance of stilt walkers, children’s choirs and a concert.

On Wednesday 13 December at the “Old Slaughterhouses” will be the opening of an exhibition of original posters of films directed by Franco Zeffirelli and other objects from cinema to opera and Shakespearean drama. The opening will be accompanied by a film screening.

At the “Ichthyoskala” Cultural Centre, children will learn Christmas crafts under the guidance of teachers of the Art Workshop and watch children’s films. The screening of the films will last for 10 days.

On Saturday, December 16th, Patras will be filled with Santa Claus, with the realization of the established bicycle ride which will give this year a special color (in collaboration with the Patras Cycling Club)

The Christmas Concert of the Municipal Conservatory of Patras, which will take place on Wednesday 20 December at the Conference Centre of the University, will be one of the special moments of this year’s festive events.

On Sunday 24 December (Christmas Eve) and Sunday 31 December (New Year’s Eve), the historic centre of Patras will be flooded with festive events with goblins, stilt walkers, monorods, jugglers, percussionists, brass bands and street theatres.

The band of the Municipality of Patras participates in all events.
