August 26-27:

 “OTHELLO” by William Shakespeare

Theatrical performance directed by Aimilios Cheilakis and Manolis Dounias, translated by Dionysis Kapsalis, with actors Giannis Bezos, Aimilios Cheilakis, Elisavet Moutafi, Angelos Bouras and Alexandros Varthis.

August 28-29:

“BEST OF VERDI, PUCCINI, GOUNOD & TCHAIKOVSKY WITH THE SOLISTS OF BOLSHOI OPERA OF MOSCOW” (opera)

Musical performance with tenors and sopranos from the Bolshoi Opera of Moscow, such as Elena Zelenskaya, Svetlana Shilova, Oleg Dolgov, Andrei Grigoriev, etc. Excerpts from operas by Arensky, Puccini, Sain-Saens, Cilea, Verdi, Offenbach, Gounod, Tchaikovsky and Mozart will be performed.

August 30:

«Manolis Mitsias – 50 Years of Gold»

Concert by Manolis Mitsias in celebration of his 50-year presence and contribution to the Greek music scene. He is going to perform great hits with music composed by Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis and Stavros Xarchakos, accompanied by an 8-member orchestra and guest musicians.

August 31 and September 1:

“The Great Uprising” – “THE ACTOR’S HOUSE” Foundation

A musical, theatrical performance emulating a journey within M. Efthymiadis and Iakovos Kampanellis’ worlds, using excerpts from Karagiozis shadow theater plays and from the Thourios of Rigas, enriched with acting improvisation. Directed by Z. Rochas, sets designed by G. Gavalas; the performance will feature many renowned actors and dancers (A. Fonsou, A. Bourdoumis, Nora Katseli, Eleni Randou, Kaiti Finou, Mania Papadimitriou, Spyros Bibilas etc. accompanied by a live orchestra).

September 2:

“FROM ANCIENT FEMALE POETS TO MODERN TIMBRES”

Music and dance performance in two parts, with original compositions by Lena Platonos performed by three musicians and two dancers. In the first part, poems and fragments by eight great ancient Greek female poets (Sappho, Corinna, Nossis, Anyti, Irina, Praxilla, Telesilla, Moiro) have been set to music. Interpretation: Maria Farantouri, narration: Lena Platonos. The second part is a musical performance of national music; singers Maria Farantouri, Elli Paspala and Savvina Giannatou will perform.

September 3:

“GOD’S PAUPER”

Folk opera with music by D. Papadimitriou and a libretto based on texts by N. Kazantzakis, J. Jorgensen, H. Hesse. Directed by Ilias Malandris.

“The Frogs” by Aristophanes – Hellenic Festival S.A.

Theater performance directed by Argyro Chioti, sets designed by Eva Manidaki, Music by Jan Van de Engel, translated by Nikos A. Panagiotopoulos. Executive producer: Maria Dourou, actors: Manolis Andriotakis, Michalis Valasoglou, Efthymis Theou, Kariofillia Karampeti

 TCHAIKOVSKY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Concert by the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra dedicated to Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

September 13-14:

JONAS KAUFMANN GALA (concert) – Greek National Opera

Concert by the internationally renowned tenor Jonas Kaufmann in collaboration with the Orchestra of the Greek National Opera. Operatic arias and orchestral interludes will be performed.

September 16:

“Ichneutae” by Sophocles – HELLENIC FESTIVAL S.A.

Theater performance directed by M. Marmarinos, dramatized by D. Kangelari / K. Thomaidis, sets designed by G. Sapountzis, music by Billy John Bultheel.

September 17:

 “Songs of the heart (‘Tragoudia tis kardias’) Giannis Parios”

Concert by Giannis Parios. Net proceeds will be donated to the non-profit company “Coeurs pour Tous Hellas”.

September 20:

“Prometheus Bound” (theatrical performance) – POREIA THEATER – Dimitris Tarlou

Theatrical performance directed by A. Biniari, sets designed by M. Avgerinou, costumes by V. Syrma and music by F. Siota. Key contributors: Giannis Stankoglou, Aris Biniaris, Orestis Chalkias, Alekos Syssovitis et al. A “Poreia” theater production.

September 25:

 “CLASSIC ROCK 5 – Athens State Orchestra meets rock stars” (concert) – ATHENS STATE ORCHESTRA – Aliki Fidetzi

Concert by the Athens State Orchestra in collaboration with rock stars Bobby Kimball, Dave Bickler, Joe Lynn Turner and Fran Cosmo.

 “STAVROS XARHAKOS 200 years of Greek Folk Song”

Concert in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 under the artistic direction of distinguished composer Stavros Xarchakos. The program will consist of 21 songs, presented by the composer and conductor as an orchestral work, with a ten-member orchestra, a choir and the singer Iro Saia.

September 27:

“YANN TIERSEN LIVE AT THE HERODEION

Concert by the composer Yaan Tiersen accompanied by 3 musicians.

 September 28:

 “OUTWITTING THE DEVIL / AKC – AKRAM KHAN COMPANY”

Theater and dance performance choreographed by Akram Khan, dramatized by Ruth Little. Music by Vincenzo Lamagna, costumes by Kimie Nakano. Six dancers will perform (Ching-Ying Chien, Andrew Pan, Dominique Petit, James Pham, Mythili Prakash, Sam Pratt).

 October 3:

“BACCHAE” by EURIPIDES

Ancient Greek tragedy theater performance, directed by Nikaiti Kontouri in collaboration with DIPETHE Ioannina, translated by Giorgos Heimonas, performed by the actors: Akis Sakellariou, Odysseas Papaspiliopoulos, Themis Bazakas, Ioanna Pappa and Stelios Mainas.

PINK MARTINI (concert) – INTER SHOW / NIKI KERASIDOU

Concert by the lounge-jazz music band PINK MARTINI, with singer China Forbes, pianist and composer Thomas Lauderdale, and 14 musicians under the artistic direction of Nergis Sinan.

October 8:

“Vassilis Papakonstantinou at the Herodeion

Concert by Vassilis Papakonstantinou with a selection of his songs, accompanied the Camerata / Orchestra of the Friends of Music.

 October 9-10:

 “Captain Michalis, by Nikos Kazantzakis” (musical-theatrical performance) – DIPETHE KRITIS S.A. OTA

Original musical-theatrical play in two acts with a libretto based on the work of the same name by Nikos Kazantzakis, music by Dimitris Maramis, directed by Efi Theodorou, sets designed by Eva Manidaki, under the direction of conductor Miltos Logiadis, starring Tassos Anastos, Charis Andrianos, Theodoris Voutsikaki et al. This performance constitutes Crete’s representation and contribution in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.

Concert by composer and pianist G. Chatzinassios, marking the 50th anniversary of his career.

October 12:

LINA NIKOLAKOPOULOU “THE SHAPES OF THE STARS”

Concert with songs Lina Nikolakopoulou, celebrating her 40-year songwriting career (1981-2021). Her most important works will be presented, and the selected songs will be performed by Tania Tsanaklidou in collaboration with 9 soloists, under the artistic direction of Fokas Evangelinos

October 13:

 “Wearing Light Colors, poetry by Giorgos Seferis set to music”

Musical-theatrical performance under the artistic direction of Agathi Dimitrouka, with permission from Anna Londou, the poet’s heiress. Poems set to music by Theodorakis, Hatzidakis, Moutsis, Andriopoulos, Markopoulos, Paschalidis and Reboutsika will be performed by Giannis Kotsiras, Christos Thivaios, Giota Nega, Dimitra Selemidou in collaboration with the Plucked String Orchestra of the Municipality of Patras, under the musical direction of conductor Nikos Symeonidis. The actor Giannis Stankoglou will recite poems and excerpts from Seferi’s prose writing.

“GIORGOS DALARAS SINGS APOSTOLOS KALDARAS”

Concert by G. Dalaras accompanied by 3 artists and 14 musicians.

“The statues are waiting” – Thessaly TheaterA production in collaboration with the Larissa Ephorate of Antiquities, inspired by the hiding of antiquities in 1940. Directed by Kyriaki Spanou.

“A Musical Journey in Byzantine Trails”Symphonic Art / TATIANI PAPAGEORGIOU

Byzantine hymns and masterpieces with Byzantine influences by great Greek composers (Theodorakis, Kougioumtzis, Kaldaras). Performed by Dimitris Bassis and Costas Makedonas.

– September 10-11:

“Led Zeppelin Symphonic, The Music of Led Zeppelin-A Rock Celebration”

A Led Zeppelin rock concert with symphonic music elements, with the participation of a 50-member symphony orchestra and a 4-member rock band. Among the performers will be Peter Eldridge, Jesse Smith and Mollie Marriott.

– September 18:

“Tango vs Flamenco Passion” – Tango Acropolis Festivals- Eleni Gosi

Dancers and musicians from Argentina and Europe will bring to life a dance “feud”. The Singers Savvina Giannatou and Alfredo Tejada will also participate, along with a Quinteto Tango orchestra. The music has been orchestrated by the Argentinian musician and composer Roman Gomez.

– September 21-22-23:

“Monica Bellucci-Maria Callas. Letters and memories ”- LC Lykofos

The Italian actress will read unpublished texts by Callas collected by Tom Volf, the director of the “Maria by Callas” film. The Camerata / Orchestra of the Friends of Music will also participate in the performance, under the direction of conductor G. Petros.

“Tiger Lillies” (musical performance) – Stereomatic Productions – Dimitris Voglis.

Concert by Tiger Lillies with their greatest hits.
