Cyprus took part again this year in the European Day of Languages 2026 (September 26, 2026), which is celebrated on the last Saturday of September each year in Athens. This year’s event took place in Pedion Areos Park, in the “Ariés” area.

Το Υφυπουργείο Τουρισμού Κύπρου μαζί με το Σπίτι της Κύπρου /  Κέντρο Πολιτισμού της Πρεσβείας της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στην Ελλάδα, συνοδοιπόροι στην προσπάθεια των  Μορφωτικών και Πολιτιστικών Ιδρυμάτων και τις Πρεσβείες 14 Ευρωπαϊκών χωρών – μελών  του δικτύου Μορφωτικών Ινστιτούτων Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης / European Union National Institutes for Culture EUNIC Αθήνας, συμμετείχαν και φέτος στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ημέρα Γλωσσών, σε συνεργασία με την Αντιπροσωπεία της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής στην Αθήνα.

The Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism, together with the House of Cyprus / Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Greece, partners in the effort of the Educational and Cultural Institutions and the Embassies of 14 European countries — members of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Athens network—participated again this year in the European Day of Languages, in collaboration with the European Commission Representation in Athens.

This year’s theme for the event was “Play.” A series of art activities—specially designed for the European Day of Languages—were held, highlighting the value and joy of play for young and old alike.

Young and old alike, using play as their vehicle, “traveled” from one European country to another and discovered the fascinating world of the Cypriot dialect and traditional Cypriot games. In particular, Cyprus’s young friends had the opportunity to receive free informational materials about the island, learn how to play traditional Cypriot games, and take home balloons —bags featuring the Love Cyprus logo and crayons to color them!

Visitors to the Cyprus booth also had a chance to win baskets filled with delicious Cypriot products.
