With more than 30 years of consistent and meaningful work in the Greek and international music scene, η Chrysoula Kechagioglou presents her new album, titled “Apothiki.” A personal space, where one can be oneself and explore one’s past and future, serves as the starting point for 13 songs that shed light on human relationships, memories, losses, loves, and small moments that leave their mark on us. The songs from the album will be performed live for the first time during two special musical evenings.
The journey begins with the moving “Palermo,” a melodic tribute to the loss of a dear friend, while “Sleeping Beauty” speaks to the redemptive need to escape. “The Sound of Your Voice” harmonizes with “Common Knowledge” in a confession about secret relationships that leave a bittersweet aftertaste, while the nostalgic “Little Cinema ‘The Islet’” and the eponymous “Warehouse” evoke images of the past. “Tattoo (Call Me by Your Name)” takes us on a journey through summer romances, while “Maya, Vaya, and Me” tenderly explores coming to terms with the passage of time. Alongside the poetic “Seagull,” “Monday” claims our personal time, while “Love” speaks of patience and trust in romance. “I Love You and I Don’t Care” refers to unfulfilled loves, and “News Report” captures the raw truth of a breakup.
Areti Kokkinou is responsible for the musical direction of both performances. Joining Chrysoula Kechagioglou on stage will be Yannis Vazaios (double bass), Kostas Parissis (electric guitar, vocals), Haroula Tsalpara (keyboards, vocals), and Kostas Christodoulou (drums). Special guests for both nights will include Andreas Dimitrelis, Olga Skiadaresis, and the Kryfto Trio, who will each contribute their own musical performances.
The album-book Apothiki, published by Tetra Books, featuring small visual masterpieces created by Petros Voulgaris, it includes a code for downloading the material and the short story based on the song lyrics. Copies of the album will be available at both presentations.
