The Artworx gallery in Kifissia presents the black-and-white photography exhibition “Capturing Emotions” by Antigoni Solomonidou Drousiotou, which opened on Friday, October 3, at 6 p.m. and will remain open until October 30, 2025.
The exhibition includes 25 black-and-white photographs that serve as mirrors of inner emotions. Printed on aluminum, Plexiglas, and fine art paper, the images transport the viewer to magical places and moments frozen in a fraction of a second. Through the play of light and shadow, the artist captures the unpredictable beauty of human existence; faces, movements, and landscapes acquire a mysterious aura that awakens inner emotions.
For her, black-and-white photography is poetry. “Colors mislead you; black and white leads you to the soul,” she notes. Each photograph is a tangible reflection of intangible emotions—fear, tenderness, loneliness, joy—transforming the fleeting into the timeless.
Solomonidou Drousiotou’s creative journey began early, with decisive encounters with legendary photographer George Rodger, a founding member of the Magnum agency, and fellow Magnum photographer David Hurn in Britain. Since then, she has presented her work at international events and iconic venues, from London and New York to the US Capitol and the United Nations in New York.
The artist has been honored with international awards, including the Commonwealth Photography Award, and in 2022 she was named “Woman Creator of the Year” by the Madame Figaro awards. She has also published five photography books, the most recent of which is “Soul-pics” (2023).
With the motto “Capturing emotions: my task in life,” Antigoni Solomonidou Drousiotou invites the audience on a journey of memory and emotions, where photography becomes a bridge between the soul and light.
