The Theorema Gallery is delighted to participate for the third consecutive year in the international contemporary art exhibition, Salon International d’Art Contemporain, art3f, in Brussels from November 21 to 23, 2025.
As part of this international event, works by four contemporary Greek painters will be presented to the European public. Maria Diakodimitriou, Christos Kechagioglou, Petros Matzakos, and Gefso Papadaki.
Maria Diakodimitriou lives in Athens and works in artistic print design. She holds a degree in English Language and Literature from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with postgraduate studies in Linguistics at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. In 2005, she founded the art magazine Epoches. She has also studied Set Design and Three-Dimensional Model Making. Working mainly with paper, acrylics, layered printing techniques, and multimedia, she creates three-dimensional and multi-layered compositions that explore visual storytelling.
Christos Kechagioglou was born in Thessaloniki and lives in Athens. He studied civil engineering in Thessaloniki and took painting lessons with Nikos Sachinis. In Athens, he continued his studies in film directing and completed a master’s degree in the philosophy of art at the Sorbonne University in Paris, studying the relationship between cinema and painting.
Petros Matzakos was born in Naxos and lives in Athens. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Dimitris Mytaras and received a master’s degree. As a graduate of the University of Athens with a degree in Education, he combined his two skills by passing on and introducing art into the public education system where he worked.
Gefso Papadaki was born in Istanbul and lives in Athens. She studied Political Science at the Law School of the University of Athens and painting at the Vakalo School. She took courses in drawing, color, composition, Byzantine iconography, materials technology, art history, and sculpture casting. She also worked in the applied arts, such as mural painting and theater set painting.
These four artists have exhibited their work in Greece and abroad, and their pieces are included in important collections.
This year, the Theorema Gallery celebrates 20 years of continuous presence in the visual arts scene in Brussels. During its twenty-year history, the gallery has contributed to introducing contemporary Greek art to the European public through exhibitions, events, and collaborations with Belgian, Greek, and international art and cultural institutions. It has promoted contemporary Greek art, ensuring a strong presence for Greek artists on the European art scene.
The gallery’s mission is to support and strengthen the voice of Greek artists by promoting their work on the European art scene.
Art is an integral part of people’s lives, expressing the concerns, anxieties, and values of our time. It is a mirror of societies, contributing to the formation of collective identity, thought, and cultural awareness. In a rapidly evolving world, art acts as a bridge between cultures.
The promotion of Greek artists abroad, especially in turbulent and unstable times, is not only an act of extroversion, but also proof that Greek culture, through its creators, remains vibrant and contemporary.
