Greek music is entering a new era of international presence and cultural outreach. For the first time, Greece is gaining official and organized representation in Europe’s leading network of music export offices. The “Music from Greece”,The national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Greek music is now an official member of the European Music Exporters Exchange (EMEE), the most important European network of music export organizations, with representation from more than 30 countries.
The unanimous admission of “Music from Greece” to the EMEE General Assembly in January 2026 at Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) marks a historic moment for the contemporary Greek music scene. Through the first official Greek Music Export Office and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Greece has an active presence on the international music industry map and participates in major artistic and institutional initiatives.
At a time when cultural diplomacy is becoming increasingly important on the international stage and music serves as a powerful tool for cultural identity, “Music from Greece” fills a long-standing gap: the coordinated international representation of domestic music and its connection to global networks within the music industry.
With more than 150 active members, including artists, managers, companies, labels, festivals, promoters, and cultural organizations, “Music from Greece” is shaping a new model of collective outreach for the Greek music sector, investing in coordinated networking, targeted mobility, strategic promotion, and the creation of sustainable partnerships within the international music ecosystem.
At the same time, “Music from Greece” seeks to collaborate with public and private organizations, institutions, and businesses that recognize the importance of the international cultural presence of Greek creativity and wish to actively contribute to the development of a modern and outward-looking music ecosystem.
A Strategic Presence at WOMEX & jazzahead!
In less than two years of operation, “Music from Greece” has already established a solid and meaningful presence at leading international industry events, such as WOMEX—the world’s largest gathering of the industry—and jazzahead! —the leading gathering of the jazz scene in Europe—actively contributing to enhancing the visibility of the Greek music scene internationally.
Greek delegations, showcases, networking events, professional meetings, and international collaborations have already opened up a new world of opportunities for Greek artists and professionals.
At the same time, “Music from Greece” has supported the participation of Greek artists in international showcase festivals and major events in Europe and Asia. Greek artists have been included, for two consecutive years, on IMPALA’s “100 Artists to Watch” list, a significant international recognition of the dynamism of contemporary Greek music production.
International Presence & Institutional Dialogues
The activities of the official Greek Music Export Office also extend to the fields of cultural diplomacy and international institutional dialogues, through participation in international forums, conferences, and high-level cultural meetings in Europe and Asia, strengthening Greece’s connections with government, cultural, and professional organizations abroad.
Membership in EMEE significantly strengthens Greece’s ability to actively participate in shaping European music policies, gain access to international networks and funding tools, and claim a stronger position in the international cultural and creative economy.
“Music from Greece,” as the country’s official and internationally recognized Music Export Office, now represents a new chapter for Greek music: an outward-looking, modern, and globally interconnected ecosystem that aims to place Greek musical creation at the forefront.
