G Design Studio, Art Athina’s stable partners for the past seven years, won three awards at the 70th Annual Type Directors Club (TDC) Competition in New York. The awards are for the Art Athina 2023 exhibition catalogue, the Art Athina 30th anniversary edition and the logo of the Monument Hotel in Athens.

The Type Directors Club (TDC) is an international organization dedicated to typography and typeface design, founded in New York in 1946. As part of its mission to promote typographic excellence from around the world, it organizes the TDC Annual Competition, whose awards are perhaps the most important distinction for typography worldwide.

In this year’s anniversary TDC 70th Annual Competition, the big winner was The New York Times Magazine with five awards, while seven creative agencies and companies collected three awards each: the Apple Design Team (USA), büro uebele visuelle kommunikation (Germany), Foreign Policy Design Group (Singapore), G Design Studio (Greece), Landor (USA), Milk Network (Saudi Arabia) and Pentagram (USA, UK, Germany).

The team of G Design Studio is excited and proud that for the first time a Greek creative agency has collected three TDC awards, deservedly taking a place among the biggest names in the industry. For the awards relating to Art Athina they report: “The typography for the Art Athina 2023 catalogue is an organic part of the overall visual identity of the event, while delicately outlining the paths taken by art lovers to the various booths. A more exuberant approach was chosen for the 30th anniversary edition, where different typographic styles and printing techniques were combined, as a tribute to the history of Europe’s oldest fair.

Art Athina and G Design Studio continue their excellent and constructive cooperation for Art Athina 2024, as they have already announced the visual identity for the upcoming fair, which will take place at Zappeion Hall from 19 to 23 September 2024.
