It took twenty-five visits to the Athonite State and a total of two hundred days for the photographer to present his own narrative of the landscape and people in this particular place.

The photography exhibition “Athos / The Colours of Faith” by Stratos Kalafatis was presented from 15 to 30 October 2021 in the impressive exhibition hall “2019” of the City Art Gallery, next to the Tsar Symeon’s garden in Plovdiv, as part of the International Meetings of Photography / Plovdiv 2021, following an invitation by Nikola Lautliev, art director of the Meetings.

Stratos Kalafatis’ photographic work “Athos  – The Colours of Faith” began in January 2008 and was completed in 2013. It took twenty-five visits to the Athonite State and a total of two hundred days for the photographer to present his own narrative of the landscape and people in this particular place.

Four years later, in 2017, following the first edition of the book of the same title by Agra Publications and after numerous exhibitions in Greece and abroad, the photographer returned to Mount Athos on another journey to photograph the people and landscapes.

The second, revised edition of the photographic album with a selection of 133 photos and an introduction by Nikos Xydakis was released by “Agra” in 2018.
