60 Greek artists and 10 university departments will be present at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (PQ), which opens today, Wednesday 7 June.

PQ is the largest international exhibition showcasing recent artistic creation in theatre, dance, opera, performance and their combined and hybrid manifestations, using stage design and performance space as a vehicle.

This year our country has its largest participation in PQ so far – as it is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and

Sports and implemented by the Athens Epidaurus Festival. The initiative belongs to the Greek set designers – costume designers, with the participation of the relevant schools and workshops.

The PQ has been held every four years since 1967 and is the most important international exhibition for the performing arts.

Greece has been represented six times (1991, 1995, 2003, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015), winning important awards and distinctions. The aim of the Greek representation at PQ23 is the expanded visibility of contemporary scenography – costume design in PQ23.
