The Greek National Opera’s Educational & Social Initiatives continue their tours throughout Greece with a series of performances and educational activities in Tinos, in collaboration with the Cultural Foundation of Tinos. The activities are aimed at both the general public and the island’s elementary schools, combining music, storytelling, and theater with hands-on experiences and creative participation.

On April 25 at 7:00 p.m., a musical storytelling performance titled “Stories to Make You Cry or Laugh” will be presented. Myths from distant times and places—from ancient mythology to the jungles of Africa and the Haida Gwaii islands—come to life through music and imagination, blending the familiar with the strange and transforming darkness into light. Without sets or theatrical props, relying solely on the power of words, interaction, and live music, the storytelling creates a world where stories become a lived experience.

On April 26 at 12:00 p.m., a musical storytelling performance titled “By Chance…” will be presented. Stories from various traditions explore the concept of chance—sometimes as something that finds us, and other times as something we can shape. Princes, kings, magical creatures, and the three Fates come together to create a world full of humor, imagination, and twists.

The musical storytelling performances are presented by the group “The Goats Know the Way,” featuring the evocative narration of Elli Giannaki and the live musical accompaniment of Dimitris Kourtis and Nikos Karidis, which effortlessly draws the audience into the magic of the myths.

The two Musical storytelling performances are aimed at children and adults aged 7 to 107 and will be presented with free admission for the public via priority tickets, which will be distributed exclusively through ticketservices.gr from April, 17 2025.

The tour is part of the “The GNO Travels Across Greece” program, which is being implemented with the support of a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to strengthen the GNO’s artistic outreach.

All events will take place at the Cultural Foundation of Tinos.
