The Elaias Nisos Lesvos Cultural Association was founded in 2020 with the vision of promoting the unique cultural heritage of the olive tree, which encompasses all the history, culture and natural beauty of Greece, included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the country since 2019 and in the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO since 2013 through the Mediterranean diet based on olive oil. This year organizes the 2nd International Olive Festival “Olive Oil & Health” at the Vrana Museum in Gera (Mytilene), with the support of the leading Yale University and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the participation of important scientists and businessmen, including in its themes important sections, such as science, technology, environment, communication, but also the crucial role of culture, gastronomy and olive oil tourism.

In this context, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 18.30 at the War Museum Amphitheatre, the Pre-Conference event of Elia Lesvos Confest 2024 will take place, with the theme “The Culture of the Olive”. Admission to the event is free.

Dr. Sophia Baroutsaki-Tsirigoti | Honorary Consul of France for Lesvos & Lemnos: “Historical route of socio-economic ties between Lesvos and France”

During the event, 3 four-minute videos by Mr. Dimitris Talianis, photographer and publisher, will be screened on the following topics: “The Olive Tree in Lesvos”, “Oil harvesting”, “Olive groves”.

The event is coordinated by the journalist Ms. Nana Darioti and is under the auspices of the French Embassy and the Institut français de Grèce.
