The Mayor of Agia Antonis Gountaras met and was briefed by representatives of the project “RESERVOIR CONSTRUCTION AT THE LOCATION “LIVADOTOPOS”, AGIOKAMPOS, LARISSA PREFECTURE” at the offices of the Agia Town Hall in the presence of the Technical Service, as the contract signing procedures from the Ministry of Rural Development have proceeded and in the near future the contractor will be installed for the initiation of the project.

The project includes an earthen dam with a central impermeable core, a frontal spillway on the right bank and a diversion-water intake tunnel also on the right bank. In addition, it includes the floodwater drainage works downstream of the dam and the improvement works of the provincial road Agia – Agiokampos and the agroforestry road alongside the dam.

The Mayor of Agia Antonis Goundaras stated: “The dam of Agiokampos is multi-purpose and aims to cover the irrigation needs of the area and the enrichment of the aquifer. It is a project that will collect huge amounts of water that will be able to contribute to hydrological and environmental needs but will also be an anti-flood project that will shield and protect the properties and the area next to the Puri Stream (Calatrava Bridge)”
