The J.F.Costopoulos Foundation establishes from 2023 the ANNIE S. COSTOPOULOS EXCELLENCE AWARD in honour of Annie Costopoulos (1933 2022), Vice President of the Foundation since 1984.

The painter Annie Costopoulos was the person who identified herself with the “vocation”, as she said herself, that the Foundation took in relation to the presentation of the work of visual artists. Since 1992, the cycle of production of exhibitions, publications, films of artistic interest, the support of related conferences, as well as the promotion of the work of artists as representatives of Greece abroad and within the borders (Venice Biennale, Sao Paolo, Alexandria, Athens and Thessaloniki) began. The initiative for the above actions belonged to Annie Costopoulos. For this so evident and practical interest in contemporary Greek art, the J.F. Costopoulos Foundation, wishing to honour her memory, is collaborating with the Athens School of Fine Arts for a prize of excellence in her name. This award will be presented each year in December to the student of the Department of Fine Arts who graduated in the respective year with the highest degree, according to the School’s regulations.and under the supervision of the Rector’s Office. The purpose of this award, which is henceforth established as an institution of the School of Fine Arts, is to serve as a motivation and a first step for young artists who are just graduating and are at the starting point for an interesting career.

The ANNIE S. COSTOPOULOS EXCELLENCE AWARD will be awarded for the first time on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 6 p.m. at a special event at the Library of the School of Fine Arts (256 Piraeus Street, Agios Ioannis Rentis).
