POSITION TITLE: Special Teaching Scientist

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: Two (2)

CATEGORY: Part-time contract for the 2023-2024 Fall Semester (September 2023 – December 2023) with the possibility of reemployment for another 2 semesters.

PLACE OF WORK: University of Cyprus, Sports Centre, Lefkosia

The Sports Centre is accepting applications to fill two (2) positions of Specialists for teaching the following selected sports courses, which may be offered based on the needs of the University of Cyprus.

  1. Lifelong Physical Fitness
  2. Football

These courses are open to all students of the University of Cyprus.  The courses will be offered according to the needs of the University of Cyprus and the number of students interested.  Each Teaching Specialist selected will be employed for one to three semesters (not necessarily consecutively or within the 2023-2024 academic year) under separate contracts, depending on his/her performance and the courses offered. Filling of positions is subject to funding availability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary purpose of this course is to enable students to acquire movement skills and positive experiences through active participation in physical recreational activities with the ultimate goal of engaging students in lifelong exercise.

The main task for the above positions are:

  1. 1. Organization of courses
  2. 2. Teaching ( theory and practise )

The courses are under the supervision of the Sports Council of the University of Cyprus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. University degree in Physical Education and Sport Sciences.
  2. Postgraduate Master’s Degree

 

FURTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Specialisation in the specific sport/course.
  2. Teaching experience at a University Institution.
  3. Doctoral degree

 

 

 

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The hourly rate is €40.00 for postgraduate degree holders and €68.00 for doctoral degree holders. Payment is made as follows: fee x teaching hours x 15 weeks (duration of the winter semester). Employee deductions will be made from the above amount to the various state funds.

In case the selected person is employed in the Public Sector or wider Public Sector, he/she should obtain prior permission from the relevant Department/Ministry or wider Public Sector.

 

The selected candidate will be asked to provide certified photocopies of diplomas from the Ministry of Education (in case of diplomas from private schools/universities in Cyprus) or from the Issuing Authority (in case of universities abroad).
