Vassilis Moskovis, donor of the Municipality of Athens, handed over the Dodecanese House with its collections to the Municipality of Athens, which has been operating since 1996.

In the Dodecanese House, the author presented and represented various customs and living traditions of the Dodecanese. For this reason the place was named Dodecanese House and not Museum. Since 1977 it has established an annual prize for the best study on the culture of the Dodecanese.

In September 1996, the Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Athens took over the continuation of the work of VassilisMoskovis. It renovated the building and began to organize special guided tours, both to those interested in the scientific study and to primary and secondary school students, providing our young people with folklore elements that are slowly disappearing, conveying to them the climate of the Dodecanese. Today it is under the supervision of the Culture, Sports & Youth Organization of the Municipality of Athens, while it also operates as a Centre for Studies on the Dodecanese.
