POSITION TITLE: Teaching Specialist

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: six (6)

CATEGORY: Part-time contract for the 2022-2023 Spring Semester (January 2023 – April 2023) with the possibility of reemployment for another 2 semesters.

PLACE OF WORK: University of Cyprus, Sports Centre, Nicosia, Nicosia.

The Sports Centre is accepting applications for six (6) Specialist positions to teach the following selected sports courses, which, based on the needs of the University of Cyprus, may be offered during the academic year 2022-2023.

  • Aerobics
  • Tennis
  • Basketball
  • Petanque
  • Squash
  • Judo

These courses are open to all students of the University of Cyprus.  The courses will be offered according to the needs of the University of Cyprus and the number of students interested.  Each semester will be offered from one to six courses.  Each teaching specialist selected will be employed for one to three semesters (not necessarily consecutively) under separate contracts, depending on his/her performance and the courses offered. Filling of positions is subject to the availability of funding.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary purpose of the course is to enable students to acquire movement skills and positive experiences through active participation in physical recreational activities with the ultimate goal of engaging in lifelong exercise.

The main task for the above positions are:

  • Organizing and planning of courses.
  • Organisation and organisation of the courses.

The courses are under the supervision of the Sports Council of the University of Cyprus.

THIS COURSE IS SUPERVISED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS:

  • University degree in Physical Education and Sport Sciences.
  • A Master’s degree in Sport and Physical Education and Sport Science, with a Master’s degree in Sport and Physical Education.

A MASTER’S DEGREE IN SPORTS SCIENCE

Master’s degree in a Master’s degree with a specialisation in the specific sport/course.

Experience of teaching in a University Institution.

Doctoral degree

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The hourly rate is €40.00 for holders of a Master’s degree and €68.00 for holders of a PhD. Payment is made as follows: fee x teaching hours x 15 weeks (duration of the spring semester). Employee deductions will be made from the above amount to the various state funds.

Interested candidates are requested to submit one copy of the below:

  • Letter of Expression of Interest for the said post.
  • A complete curriculum vitae.
  • Copies of diplomas.
  • The successful candidate will be asked to provide certified photocopies of diplomas from the Ministry of Education and Culture (in case of diplomas from private schools/universities in Cyprus) or from the Issuing Authority (in case of universities abroad).
  • Two letters of recommendation.

In case the selected person is employed in the Public Sector or in a wider Public Sector, he/she should obtain a relevant permit from the relevant Department/Ministry or wider Public Sector.

The selected candidate will be asked to provide certified photocopies of diplomas from the Ministry of Education (in case of diplomas from private schools/universities in Cyprus) or from the Issuing Authority (in case of universities abroad).
