The curtain opens on the 1st Thess Clean -Thess Green Festival, the 1st Thessaloniki Municipality’s Circular Economy Festival, on Thursday 2 June, at the TIF, at Pavilion 16.

The opening of the Festival will take place in the afternoon of the first day of the Festival, on Thursday 2 June, at 6 p.m., by the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas. 

Thess Clean -Thess Green is an initiative of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, aiming to familiarise the citizens of the city with the practices of the Circular Economy: waste reduction – reuse – recycling of materials.

The Festival has a rich programme of activities and events for both adults and children, while many schools in the city have already planned a visit to the Festival and the participation of their students in its activities. In particular, the programme includes an exhibition of recycling systems, informative workshops and seminars for adults, performances, workshops and amusement parks for young visitors and schoolchildren.

During the Festival, and in cooperation with Appliance Recycling, Sorting & Classification Centre of Northern Greece, a Repair Cafe will be in operation where visitors will be able to bring their broken electrical appliances for free repair. If the appliance is repairable, it will be fixed immediately, while the owner will enjoy a coffee, on the house. If the appliance is not fixed, the owner will have the option to leave it for recycling.

In addition, alongside the Festival’s activities, the Thessaloniki History Center’s exhibition “Public Cleanliness. Cleaning services in the city of Thessaloniki: From Garbage Dumpsters in Antiquity, to Organized Sanitation and Recycling”, at Pavilion 16.

The Festival, which is organised by TIF-Helexpo, is under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Hellenic Recycling Organisation. It is supported by the Hellenic Recycling Recovery Company – the well-known Blue Bin system, and the Solid Waste Management Agency (SWMFA) of Central Macedonia.
