Woman, as a source of inspiration, through her various roles in her social life, is a timeless and topical issue, even today. Through the musical traditions of the world, we see all aspects of the woman unfold: from the girl dreaming and hoping to see her lover again, to the young girl, to the lover, to the mother, to the abused woman, to the victim woman, to the seductress woman to the femme fatale.
In this performance, the Thirathen Vocal Group will present traditional songs, and not only, dedicated to women, from all over Greece and the wider Balkan and Mediterranean region and will then travel from Western Europe to Mexico.
Cross-border and intercultural songs will be performed, which have as a common theme the woman in her broadest manifestation and, apart from the Greek language, songs in Bulgarian, Albanian, Yiddish, Sephardic, Spanish, Arabic and Turkish will also be performed.
The performance is divided into thematic sections and in between, there is a narration of some poems or phrases that refer to women.

Thirathen Vocal Group was founded in 2017 and is under the auspices and supervision of the Thirathen Museum. It is a polyphonic vocal ensemble, the majority of its members are accomplished professional musicians and choristers with many years of choral experience. The repertoire covered includes traditional Greek songs, harmonized for three- or four-voice choir, as well as polyphonic traditional songs from the musical traditions of the world, with emphasis on the Mediterranean and the Balkans. Thirathen Vocal Group presents mostly its repertoire without the accompaniment of musical instruments (a capella), thus highlighting in the best way the variety and breadth of both the human voice and the polyphonic musical tradition.
The performance is organized by the Region of Crete and will take place on September the 1st at the end of the coastal front, northwest of Analipsi Hersonissos, at the mouth of the Aposelemi River.
