Sophocles’ “Ajax”, the performance that delighted the audience and critics, with Michalis Sarantis and Apostolos Hadzaras, directed by Giorgos Nanouris, will be presented at 9.30 on Thursday evening, July 18 at the Municipal Summer Theatre of Patras for the International Festival.
Michalis Sarantis gives a thrilling performance in all nine roles of the tragedy, while Apostolos Hadzaras converses with him by painting in front of the audience.
Ajax, the greatest warrior in the Greek camp, is entitled to Achilles’ weapons after his death. When they intriguingly end up with Odysseus, he decides to take revenge. However, he becomes a prisoner of the goddess Athena and the laughing stock of the Argean army. Disgraced and desperate, he commits suicide.
