The Postgraduate Programme (MSc) “European Societies and European Integration” explores the relationship and differences between the social, economic and cultural practices of societies and institutions both within the European Union and its neighbouring countries, in terms of national identities, social movements, economic structures, social transformations, democratisation processes, religion and modernisation.
The objectives of this MA are both the acquisition of specialized scientific knowledge and professional training of students in the field of European Studies and their acquaintance with scientific research in the field of the study of the basic issues that concern European societies and the processes of convergence towards their social cohesion (integration). The MA aims to improve the professional qualifications of students, not through a professional specialisation but through systematic training on issues concerning European societies, the institutional framework of the EU, European policies, economic developments, the protection of human rights, methods of analysis and processing of social data and migration/refugee flows.
As it recognizes European and Euro-Mediterranean social formations as dynamic processes, the programme is particularly interested in developing collaborations between students, faculty and researchers from neighbouring countries with the aim of both exploring the aforementioned factors that shape our common future, as defined by the community/international phenomenon, and formulating and exploiting research projects that will propose possible avenues of intercultural understanding and institutional/economic/social relations between the European and Mediterranean societies.
The teaching of the courses is carried out entirely (100%) with modern e-learning. The courses focus on the historical and contemporary analysis of European societies, institutions and institutions of the European Union, on the interconnection of applied policy measures in critical areas (human rights, migration, economy, demography, employment, training), and on sociological research methods, according to which the above are investigated.
The duration of the Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization is three (3) semesters and offers students 90 ECTS credits in total.
