The newly formed photography group “Momo Lens Art” organizes on Thursday, November 26, at 7:00 p.m., the opening of its first group photography exhibition, titled “Soundless Stories” and curated by Hypatia Kornarou, at the T.A.F. / the art foundation art and culture space, 5 Normanou Street, Athens.

A Brief Note from the Curator

“Eleven female photographers, after an extensive period of engagement with photographic creativity, present a series titled ‘Soundless Stories,’ focusing on the impact of delving deeper into visible and invisible worlds. They assert their presence, claim and redefine their place, amidst a sacred silence that functions more as an emotional landscape, expressing their demand for profound freedom. The diversity of ideas is shaped by personal and social stimuli that interact within the realm of female psychology and identity.

The visualization of these stories is based on reconstructed narratives in which the artists explore the concepts of family connection, the scars of trauma, and the significance of generational memory. They experiment with and appropriate the art of the self-portrait, discovering a landscape that is both familiar and mysterious. A landscape that ultimately transforms into a portrait of emotional diffusion and self-reflection. At the same time, they navigate the truths of universal reality and negotiate their repositioning through poetic and visual expression.

In short, photography is transformed into a visual process of becoming, one of inexhaustible interpretation, mapping the female experience as an artistic act. With a sense of dismantling stereotypes, they reexamine and promote—with the intention of empowerment—female extroversion, almost cultivating a “three-dimensional, relief-like construction” of the images.

The upcoming exhibition aims to forge a connection between the viewer and the subjective representation of the photographic works, thereby fostering a new way of seeing.”

About Momo Lens Art

“Momo Lens Art” is a newly formed photography group founded by photographer Hypatia Kornarou and inspired by the story of the enlightened heroine from Michael Ende’s novel Momo.

This photography group serves as an open space for artistic exchange, constructive dialogue, and experimental visual documentation. Our group approaches photography not merely as a means of representing reality, but as an autonomous research process and a tool for conceptual mapping of the contemporary world.

Our goals are to explore the social, cultural, and spatial dimensions of the medium, challenging the established stereotypes of visual culture. We promote pluralism, approaching the photographic process as a creative act of dialectical synthesis of diverse personal perspectives.

We focus on creating cohesive photographic series and projects that highlight the depth of research and the development of the idea behind the photograph.
