In the new podcast of the "Modern World" series, titled "Jella Lepman: Let's Start with the Children. Books as Bridges," an interesting discussion unfolds with author and president of the Greek Section of IBBY's "Greek Children's Book Circle," Vangelis Iliopoulos.

At the center of the discussion is Jella Lepman, the pioneering figure who founded the International Youth Library in Munich and laid the groundwork for IBBY, establishing the right to read at a time when it was not a given.

Jella Lepman remains relevant today, as wars continue and books need to be promoted in more appealing ways in the face of the dominance of screens and artificial intelligence, which are creating new challenges for reading.

"Her work expresses the humanism and love we must have for everything we do. And above all, love for humanity—a fundamental prerequisite for the peaceful coexistence of peoples."
