The Book Publishers’ Association (SEKV), as part of the 54th Book Festival at Pedion tou Areos, is organizing a concert by the Greek Music Workshop in collaboration with the Organization for Culture, Sports, and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA).

The orchestra will perform timeless works by great Greek composers and artists who were inextricably linked to Greek literature and poetry.

The Book Publishers’ Association (SEKV), as part of the 54th Book Festival at Pedion tou Areos, is organizing a roundtable discussion in collaboration with the Agatha Festival and the Hellenic Crime Writers’ Club on the topic:

“Police and Crime Fiction: Myth, Truth, and Realism. From the Field to the Pages.”

Speakers: Ioanna Petridou (Agatha Festival Organizer, crime fiction evaluator), Grigoris Azariadis (Author, crime fiction critic), Konstantinos Chasiotis (Deputy Police Chief, former head of the Homicide Division), Angelos Chariatis (Author, President of ELSAL).

The Book Publishers’ Association (SEKV), as part of the 54th Book Festival at Pedion tou Areos, is organizing an event in collaboration with the European Parliament Office in Greece and the European Commission Representation in Greece on the topic:

“The City as a Shared European Future.”

Cities are the places where Europe’s future is shaped every day. It is there that the major challenges of our time—climate change, housing, mobility, and social cohesion—converge, as do the great opportunities for innovation, culture, democracy, and participation.

The Book Publishers’s Association (SEKV), as part of the 54th Book Festival at Pedion tou Areos, is organizing a children’s theater performance titled:

“Alice in Fishland.”

The Methexis theater company presents Yannis Xanthoulis’s subversive children’s musical, directed by Christos Tripodis.

Alice set out on her vacation in her little boat, the “Bourbouliithra.” However, a storm sinks it, and a dolphin rescues Aliki and takes her to the bottom of the sea, where everything is “wet and watery.” The fish are in an uproar because it’s the first time a human has arrived in Fishville, and they decide to imprison her. To save herself, Alice offers to become a teacher at the bottom of the sea, to teach the fish how humans live, so they can become as smart and strong as humans. Through Alice’s lessons, the fish learn what money is and are divided into classes. At the very top are the expensive fish, such as lobsters and shrimp; at the very bottom are the cheap ones, such as anchovies. Alice, seeing that the fish are picking up all of humans’ bad habits, tries to teach them that people don’t care only about money and war, but also have values, such as love. The oil spill also makes an appearance, threatening the balance of Fishland. Alice, with the little dolphin as her ally, tries to confront it and save the seabed.

The Book Publishers’ Association (SEKV), as part of the 54th Book Festival at Pedion tou Areos, is organizing the following workshop in collaboration with the Greek Section of IBBY – Greek Children’s Book Circle:

“Make Your Own Ex Libris”

The workshops are designed and led by illustrators who are members of Greek IBBY. The goal is for children to learn about the concept of an ex libris and, through simple stamp-making techniques (such as engraving and other printing techniques), to design and create their own personal ex libris.

The Book Publishers’ Association (SEKV), as part of the 54th Book Festival at Pedion tou Areos, is organizing, in collaboration with the Network for Children’s Rights, a children’s workshop titled:

“If children were to design a house of imagination, what would it look like? A house of play? A house of books?”

A unique art workshop inspired by children’s books, in collaboration with professionals from the publishing industry.

The Book Publishers’ Association (SEKV), as part of the 54th Book Festival at Pedion tou Areos, is organizing a roundtable discussion in collaboration with the Contemporary Constantinopolitan Writers on the topic:

“From the Bosporus… to the City. Memories of Youth… True Stories.”

An oral account of the social, cultural, and intellectual traditions of the Group’s members, who were born and spent their youth in Istanbul.
