
The Department of Environment at the School of Technology of the University of Thessaly invites interested individuals to apply for admission to the MSc Program entitled “Environmental Management” for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The objective of the MSc Program in “Environmental Management” (Government Gazette B’ 3608/July 11, 2022) is to provide advanced scientific knowledge and technologies, an understanding of legislative frameworks and their application, and methodological approaches related to the Environmental Sciences.
The following are required for the award of the Degree:
➢ Successful completion and examination of ten (10) required courses. ➢ Preparation and successful defense of a master’s thesis.
Specialization in specific subject areas, depending on the candidates’ career goals and interests, is achieved by selecting an appropriate thesis topic.
The minimum duration of study for the MSc program is three (3) semesters for full-time students and six (6) semesters for part-time students. The Department of Environment has the necessary logistical infrastructure and provides all the modern educational resources required for conducting the courses and other activities of the MSc program.
The courses in the MSc program are taught on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the Department of Environmental Studies in Larissa. Courses are taught in person, with 35% of the instruction delivered through distance learning.
Tuition for the MSc program totals €2,500, including travel expenses for two field trips during the course of study. In accordance with Article 86 of Law 4957/2022, students in the Master’s program are eligible, up to 30% of the total number of students admitted to the program, to be exempt from tuition fees on financial grounds.
For the 2026–2027 academic year, four (4) scholarships, each in the amount of €1,000, will be awarded to four (4) students who successfully pass all their courses and achieve the highest grade point average.
The MSc Program in “Environmental Management” accepts, following a selection process, graduates of Greek universities (universities and technical colleges) in Greece and from equivalent institutions abroad, provided that their degrees have been recognized as equivalent by DOATAP. Specifically, the program is open to graduates of departments in the Schools of Technology, Polytechnic Schools, Natural Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences, as well as graduates of Departments of Education, Departments of Economics and Social Sciences, and Teacher Training Schools with relevant experience in the subject area of the MSc program.
Students from foreign institutions must submit a certificate of equivalence and recognition from the competent authority for the recognition of foreign academic qualifications, DOATAP. If they do not possess this certificate, the University of Thessaly will verify the recognition of the foreign institution and the degree awarded by that institution, provided that they are listed in the National Register of Recognized Foreign Institutions and in the National Register of Types of Degrees from Recognized Foreign Institutions, in accordance with the provisions of Article 304 of Law 4957/2022.
The number of graduate students admitted to the master’s program is set at thirty (30) per year.
