
On the occasion of the celebration of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Enlighteners of the Slavs (May 11), to whose memory the Chapel of the Orthodox Academy of Crete is dedicated, the following Divine Services will be held at the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Our Lady of the Angels in Gonia Kolymvari*:
Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
Festive Vespers of the Feast, followed by the Breaking of the Bread.
Monday, May 11, 2026, 7:00–10:00 a.m.
Matins and Divine Liturgy.
All are invited to celebrate the memory of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the Thessalonian missionaries, the Enlighteners of the Slavs, according to the above schedule. They are the preeminent exponents of the supranational, supra-ethnic, and ecumenical spirit of Orthodoxy. The two brothers distinguished themselves for their excellent scholarly training, their remarkable linguistic proficiency, their high ecclesiastical virtue, the holiness of their lives, and their missionary activity.
*The Divine Services will be held at the nearby Holy Monastery of Gonia, due to the renovation of the Foundation’s old wing, which houses the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
