
To mark the celebration of World Children’s Book Day on April 2, the Museum of Childhood opens its doors to its young friends and their families, as well as to all those who love children’s books and their magical world, for a unique book-loving experience!
The program of activities is full of inspiration, imagination, and creativity!
Thursday 2 & Friday 3 April
School Workshops by the Educational Department of the Vasilis Papantoniou Foundation
What secrets do old books hold?
Children discover the library as a place of imagination, play, and creative expression
Saturday 4 April
12:00 PM – “Mystery at Tatoi” in collaboration with Kapon Publications
The book’s author, Efi Aggeli, introduces the audience to the magical world of the former royal estate and its history through her book.
6:00 PM – “Ancient and Byzantine Women Who Touched and Surpassed Myth” in collaboration with Papadopoulos Publications
The authors of the book, Zinonas Zambakidis and Vasiliki Markaki, introduce remarkable women!
Sunday 5 April
12:00 – “How a Children’s Book Is Made,” in collaboration with Nefeli Publishing
Periklis Douvitsas, publisher of Nefeli Publications, and Maya Miriam Papageorgiou, a theater and music educator, introduce the audience to the magical world of bookmaking, as well as its impact on our environment.
18:00 – “Trigonopsaroulis” in collaboration with Patakis Publications
Vangelis Iliopoulos, the author of the beloved hero of modern Greek children’s literature—a character who has been around for over 25 years—takes the audience on a journey through his countless stories!

The Festival is supported by the IBBY Greek Children’s Book Circle, the Greek Section of the International Board on Books for Young People.
In 2026, IBBY Cyprus will be responsible for World Children’s Book Day, with the central theme “Plant stories and the world will blossom,” which also serves as the slogan for this year’s celebration and the main theme of the Festival’s poster.
